THE BIG PICTURE (SHORT INSPIRATIONAL FILM 2015)
Amelle is a 25 years old aspiring Artist. She is living a safe and boring life working every day in mundane jobs. Amelle falls asleep and sees her 10 years old younger self in her dream. Following the conversations, lessons, and journey of big and little Amelle she wakes up inspired to change her life today.
The Big Picture was made for a film competition in 2015 based on the theme Inspire. Due to the bad weather conditions in October 2014 the film was not made and the deadline passed. Sunny weather was required for the dream sequences and Shanil decided to make the film when the time is right oppose to meeting a deadline. The film was shot over a couple of days in April 2015 instead and released at the end of Summer.

Q&A WITH SHANIL KAWOL
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE THE BIG PICTURE?
Following your dreams is a really important topic for me. I believe we should all be doing what we want to do in life and making the most of our circumstances. You are your own worst enemy (your mind) and if you can convince yourself to do better then you will.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?
I really enjoy movies that create a world we can immerse ourselves in and forget about reality. For example, Jurassic Park, Avatar, Transformers and Disney/Marvel movies. I would like to become a feature film director in the Fantasy/Science Fiction genre.
WHERE WAS THE FILM SHOT?
The film was shot in numerous locations in and around Greater London. The house was owned by an Artist in Harrow which was ideal for the Artistic character. The dream sequence begins in Holland Park, Kyoto gardens. It was very busy that day at the waterfall, you have no idea how hard it was to make it look empty.. The second location was Ruislip Lido at the lake and the third location was Whippendell Woods in Watford.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DID YOU USE?
I used a Canon 550D DSLR camera, range of Canon lenses, Rode Video Mic with a Tascam DR-40, and a tripod. The lighting was natural outdoors with the occasional use of a reflector to bounce the light.
